It is no exaggeration to call Tünde Remák a person with an enormous drive. "Creativity has always been a part of my life," says Tünde, who has been working at the Materials Services site in Budapest since 2015. "I just like to try things out." She has designed and made jewelry that has even been worn at fashion shows, made theater and film props, sewn dolls and tried her hand at mural painting. "Basically, it was my creativity that brought me to thyssenkrupp Materials and not some kind of business training," says Tünde. "But as a goldsmith, I was at least not completely unfamiliar with the magical world of metals."

Tünde works in Business Development. As part of a small team, she develops proposals for new or improved products and services. Her specific tasks include organizing events and projects "and supporting and implementing the ideas of my colleagues," she says. "Our small office is made up of a variety of highly motivated, colorful personalities who work together in a friendly, inspiring atmosphere."

Sustainability is an important aspect of business development. The processes in the company, the products and the way they are handled must increasingly meet ESG criteria, i.e. standards relating to the environment, social issues and corporate governance. "I am very pleased that my job involves me in the development of our company's ESG strategy," says Tünde. "In order to promote the idea of sustainability among our colleagues, we have created a sustainability award at Materials Services in Budapest, which is presented to employees or a team every year on Earth Day."

Tünde doesn't just put her urge to create and design something into practice at her workplace: together with some colleagues, she has created a garden on the company premises in the Újpalota district. The green oasis now consists of 17 raised beds and eleven smaller beds. The employees built the raised beds from recycled pallets. Vegetables, herbs, flowers and even fruit trees and shrubs are now growing in the company garden.

"We harvest tomatoes, zucchinis, mint, thyme and much more," says Tünde. It's also about experiencing the joy of gardening, taking a break from work in the greenery, relaxing and generally paying more attention to the environment. "Many city dwellers don't have the opportunity to garden with their own hands. With the beds, we make this possible for us and our colleagues," says Tünde. She doesn't have her own garden either. "I live in the center of Budapest on the banks of the Danube," she says, "there's no room for it." Up to 25 employees currently look after the plants. There is also a compost bin in the garden to recycle the green waste. The compost serves as fertilizer and also reduces the amount of waste.

Sustainability and nature are matters close to the heart of the mother of three grown-up children. She regularly hikes with Hungarian and Slovakian colleagues along the "Blue Path", a 1,172 km hiking trail along Hungary's northern border with Slovakia. "In the past three years, we have already covered almost 800 km and created countless unforgettable memories," says Tünde. Given her strong drive, it shouldn't take too long to complete the rest of the route.
